Synthesis colleagues,

We're now accepting applications for travel stipends to attend the 2010
Hydrologic Synthesis Research Symposium. Would you mind circulating this
news to your network?

What: 2010 Hydrologic Synthesis Research Symposium
When: August 9-10, 2010
Where: Vancouver, British Columbia

More Information:
This symposium will serve as a capstone exercise to an intensive six
week research experience for students as part of a hydrologic synthesis
project. The project offers a platform to bring together a diverse group
to study the most important open questions in freshwater sciences, with
the objective of positively transforming our ability to predict the
dynamics of water resources and aquatic ecosystems under highly
uncertain conditions.

Applications from early career individuals (post-docs and faculty) are
being accepted for travel stipends to participate in the symposium.
Selected individuals should be prepared to provide feedback to the
students and faculty mentors as well as communicate their own research
agenda and progress.

To apply, please send your CV and a brief statement of interested to
Jennifer Wilson (jswilson@illinois.edu <mailto:jswilson@illinois.edu>)
by Friday, May 14.

Jointly hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the
University of British Columbia and co-sponsored by CUAHSI.

Synthesis colleagues,

Siva and I are excited to announce that our request for a special
section in WRR has been approved. John Selker and Graham Sander will
serve as the lead editors, with Siva serving as the guest editor.

I'm including the description and our initial list of papers and would
like to invite you to submit a relevant and compelling paper during the
period of May 15 - August 15, 2010. As a reminder, manuscripts submitted
to a special section are subject to the same stringent review as all
other submissions.

We appreciate your contributions to synthesis over the past few years
and are looking forward to sharing our outcomes with the community.

With the transition to Central Desktop as the project's collaboration tool, we'll start a new blog to share updates with our community. The primary use of this blog will be during the 2010 Hydrologic Synthesis Summer Institute, where students will post frequently with their progress.
